Yesterday is the kind of day you don't get very often. I finished everything with a flourish, and got a lot done too. I had set my alarm for 5:30am, Unfortunately, I woke up at 4:30am. I turned off my alarm and got up.
I remembered my vitamins and to eat breakfast. Cereal in milk. Everything deftly done.
I dressed. And, then realized it was to early for me to leave--but I had a long way to go and I wanted to make sure that I was there on time.
The drive is not one that I had taken in a while. 75 to 4, all the way down to Zephyrhills. The Circle K I was working at was actually in Plant City. I started seeing signs for the Strawberry Festival.
I was there early, but went in to meet my bosses for the day. When I went in I turned on my phone and was shown my number to punch in. Then I went to the freezer and started putting things I could find, away.
This is where it gets weird. I had picked out to be scheduled at the Plant City Circle K on Saturday. This was Monday. What I didn't realize until I got into the freezer is that the branch that I had planned to spend 4 hours in had been doing an audit--during my shift. That means that most everything was already put away. They were just counting it.
I got away with sticking around for 2 1/2 hours--and then it was time to go.
I went home.
I used the restroom and sat down on the couch. Then I looked for my Roadie app. And found there was a well worth it Best Buy that I could try to get. It was not always preordained that anything you tried for you were accepted--but, I had the time AND the gas money to pull it off. (About 4 hours of driving and 78 miles)
I had a little trouble with it accepting my gig request--but after about 10 times trying it lit up green. Then, wounder of wonder--IT ACCEPTED ME.
I left immediately.
Down to Citrus Park Mall--where I have picked up large Best Buy runs MANY times. 14 separate places to deliver to. (The last one I got was even luckier--8 were going to the same place. I saved a lot of time and money.)
I scanned in all 14 and l used my phone to call the first person on the list. They were home and I started along my merry way,
The reason I call is Delivery 101--make sure there is not gate code to get in--it also lets them know you're coming.
I got to the first house and while using my phone (which I plugged in to get juice) I scanned the correct package. Then I answered where I left the package (this time with the recipient) and checked to see that the package didn't need to be signed for.
I knocked on the door knowing she would be there--because I called. I handed her the package and took a picture--the picture is the most important thing because it tells them who received it and that it WAS received.
Time to leave for the next one.
This one was different. It needed a signature. I spoke to Axel on the phone and he said leave it--he would be back in 15 minutes--but I couldn't wait. He gave me permission to leave the package and sign for it.
The only thing holding me back was that some of these deliveries are behind closed gates. This makes each of those phone calls VERY important.
I kept going until all 14 were delivered--the only thing I did was at some point open my windows so that I could feel the fresh air outside, in. I also had warm water which I opened after I got gas and something to eat. The day was a rush, but very satisfying.
I finished in about 4 hours--ahead of time. 3:15pm
Now I just had to wait for 6:15pm for it to hit the Roadie account and then be transferred to my account that had already been picked.
Again, I went home--it was now closer to 4pm
I realized that there was a meeting in the club house from 5-7. and though I was tired I knew I was going--besides they had set up dinner--after the day I had I didn't have to cook.
I stayed for about an hour and left for my apartment.
Then the fun part of the day. I opened my Chromebook and watched The Young and the Restless--as I have for most days over the last 2 1/2 decades. And, then I watched John Oliver. I just love how he gets into subjects that we might not be think about--he does a DEEP dive into one each week.
At this point I was hungry again and fixed myself something--tonight, mostly liquid--I had been hot all day.
Next it was time to get into bed. And, that's where my day ended--after I watched The Hallmark Channel and MSNBC--I really like Mondays because Rachel Maddow is on.
WHAT A DAY.
There won't be many like it--where I get to do 2 jobs in one day--and still have time to relax with my favorite shows at the end of it.
Tiring, YES, but again--well worth it.
